I am a trustee of UK based charity Inspiring Futures: Uganda.
Inspiring Futures: Uganda (IF:U) is a charitable trust (UK Charity No. 1148464) that supports sustainable development in rural Uganda.
IF:U was founded by seven former volunteer teachers who are passionate about alleviating poverty, and who recognised the difference that can be made by people in UK who want to do a little to achieve a lot in an impoverished part of the world.
“Your volunteer work is very much appreciated in Uganda. Thank you Volunteer Uganda and Inspiring Futures: Uganda.”Amama Mbabazi, Prime Minister of Uganda
Below is a little information on the charity. While reading it please ask yourself, what IF:U could make a difference?
Our mission statement…
To drive and support projects which promote sustainable development with the aim of eliminating poverty in rural Uganda.
How we plan to achieve this…
Our objective is achieved through three core activities;
• We implement core projects. Research conducted by interns at Volunteer Uganda and IF:U trustees is used to identify community needs and form effective responses.
• We support volunteers and members of the community that are implementing development projects. A project proposal is submitted enabling us to ensure the project meets the needs of the community and is sustainable. We provide HR and infrastructure support to implement the project and we offer financial support to meet its objectives.
• Enabling people to fundraise for Volunteer Uganda programmes. We support the work of Volunteer Uganda by providing a means for volunteers to fundraise for their trip. This money is spent on teacher training; developing social enterprises; and for facilitating volunteer teaching placements.
A charity run by volunteers, with no overheads…
Money donated to IF:U is spent on our core projects. Money may also be spent on projects managed by members of the community and volunteers.
All donations are spent in Uganda. We achieve this by none of the trustees taking a paid role, and all expenses of the trustees are paid for by ourselves.
